Linz is where Hitler first declared Anschluss ...German unification with Austria...and thus began world war 1. After the war it, like Berlin, was divided (like Budapest too) among the Brits, French, Russians and Americans...and it's where Mozart traveled often. Kepler and his astronomy originated here as does the famous Linzer torte. The city dates back to the Roman Times, the Danube acted as the border between the barbarian tribes and the Roman empire...so a few thousand years. Beautiful cathedrals, ancient buildings, river cruises and great food keeps tourism bustling. There were some fun window scenes and Peggy found a few precious stones to bring back to Gabe and Abby ... one of her fun treasure hunts on each of our trips.
